Sally Jacob is a UK based fantasy artist, whose artwork often explores the darker/Steampunk side of faery. She is mostly self-taught, although studied to foundation BTEC level in Somerset, United Kingdom. Her current body of work is the result of a love affair with her subject and lots of hard work! Sally paints from her small home studio in the Somerset countryside and works mainly in acrylics on canvas.
Sally’s work has been published in several magazines, including “Pentacle”, “Faeries and Angels” and “mermaids and mythology” and “faeries and enchantment”.
Her love affair with all things faery started in childhood, she was always fascinated with fae creatures and loved reading traditional faery tales and legends that contained faeries. As she got older this interest deepened into something else and, as an artist she feels compelled to create art that revolves around this theme.
Sally’s main influences are the pre Raphaelite artists of the Victorian/Edwardian era and modern faery artists such as Jasmine Becket-Griffith, Amy Brown and Brian Froud. Mermaids and Fae creatures are the focus of her current work. Pre-Raphaelite influences are merged with something darker to create edgy paintings filled with emotion and quirky compositions. She is currently been involved in exploring faery tales with a twist!
Sally’s werk is gepubliceerd in verschillende magazines, waaronder “Pentcale”, ‘Faeries and Angels”, “Mermaids and Mythology”, en “Faeries and Enchantment”.
